Hamantaschen have a rich Jewish History evolving from the story of Purim. The most traditional flavor is Poppy Seed, inspired by our heroine Queen Esther hiding her Jewish heritage in the king’s household and living off of seeds and beans to protect her Jewish dietary laws of kashrut. Rather than break her tradition or jeopardize her life, she found a way to maintain both.
As is symbolic of the seeds being hidden inside the center of the hamantaschen, we see G-d’s seed of salvation (Esther) hidden in plain site and reveal herself in perfect timing to save the Jewish race.
